I published my first Substack last week and it felt so good. An external accomplishment for the World to see. I momentarily felt like the “old me”.
It took me months to get that first article published. And here I sit, one week later, with two half written stories.
I have a couple of paragraphs typed up about a moment I had on instagram last week: I was scrolling IG and a very influential influencer had posted a reel documenting the healthiest foods to eat with a list of foods to avoid. On the list of foods to avoid, it was essential to avoid nuts and beans - because, according to the compelling information this influential influencer presented, nuts and beans are toxic to our bodies.
I eat nuts and/or beans almost every day. I was very concerned, momentarily.
Thankfully, the literal next post I saw was from another influential influencer, encouraging their followers (me) to eat nuts and beans every day.
LOL.
The “point” of that essay was: stop looking outside of yourself for “the answers”. In reality, there is/was probably some truth to what both of those influential influencers said about nuts and beans. Yet, the truth depends on what YOU need - on what I need. The essay would have encouraged me (and you) to lean into our own intuitive wisdom (versus the abundance of information constantly presented to us). I’m sure it would have been great had I been motivated to finish it. I wasn’t.
