A few nights ago, I laid in my bed, eyes-wide-open, neck cranked, squashed between Sloan and Silas.
Most nights, Sloan inevitably ends up diagonal in our bed, her head taking up a majority of my pillow. For months, she has either started the night in our bed or she ends up in there before dawn.
That particular night, Silas woke up crying shortly after 1AM. And after fighting sleep with a stuffy nose, he had finally fallen asleep in the crook of my arm.
Neither of them were in a deep enough sleep for me to move into a comfortable position, so I was dreadfully and uncomfortably awake. That night, I stayed up reading until 11PM. So I had really only slept for an hour or less before I was joined by them. I was both awake and exhausted and I was experiencing that crummy feeling that I often feel when I hold both of those sensations at the same time.
